The website is about the beginning of the symposia's history: the "1. International Sculptor's Symposium in St.Margarethen", founded by Karl Prantl (sculptor, Austria) in 1959. It's about the founder, the members, the sculptures, the symposion's house, the landscape and the result: after this 1st symposium held in St. Margarethen (Austria) the idea/inspiration spread over the world. At the moment the website is in german language, but it will soon also be available in english.
Location: Austria (St. Margarethen, Burgenland).

The Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium will take place from the end of July to the beginning of September 2007 for six weeks at the Schoodic Education And Research Center inside the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park in Maine USA. Eight artists from Maine, the United States, and 4 other countries will be invited to sculpt monumental works out of Maine granite and basalt. The finished sculptures will be exhibited in the park and then permanently installed in public locations in Washington and Hancock counties. The public will be invited to watch the event at all times during the six weeks. Our goal is to create an internationally recognized art event that will be held biennially for the next ten years. We will create an outdoor collection of public art carved from the high quality stone from our local area. A catalogue will be produced after each symposium.
Location: USA (Maine).
