a new beginning
hello- this is my first e-mail and my first inquiry into a venure i have always wanted to explore that of stone sculpting stone carving. and so where to begin. i have never done this before and have not really known myself to be "artistic, but i love stone. iread the response about respirators and will explore the 3-m airmate also someone told me about the north respirator. tools- my brother said don't get anything except high quality for stone like soapstone, alabaster and other softer stones. but getting the quality tools are essential and any ideas- high quality- carbide tips?
i want to build a shop which is comfortable enough to move around in. i have an area of about 15' x12 ' with 4 nice windows. i do have the ability to have more space, but do i really need this for a non commercial stoner?
i live in rural maine and classes are not available here. any suggestions as to where to begin learning? can you just start getting some basic equipment and stone and have this begginers mind to the process. thank you to all who have taken the time to read this inquiry. and to those who respond a gracious thank you.
from a virgin of stone.
