Sounds like you've come up against that limestone call Hadrian by the
quarry out in Garden City. Actually, Texas is a limestone carvers
paradise. Lots of quarries, and fabrication mills with ample "boneyards"
for carvers to pick through, and large expanses of countryside where decent
stone can be gleened off of the surface, creek beds, and road cuts. All
thanks to those Cretaceous Seas that hung out here 60 to 120 million years
ago. Currently, I can sample potential clients about 10 different Texas
Limestones- each with it's own distinct characteristics, and appropriate
uses.
So John, Where in Texas is it that you abuse stone?? I'm a little NW of
Austin, and there are a couple of other Lone Star Staters here on the list
