Anybody interested? Well, no ...Bronze, stone...
Mentioning bronze on a stone list! Horror of horrors!
I noticed a while ago that no one showed any interest when I mentioned a
program I'd seen on PBS - in which a stone statue fell apart as a result of air
pollution, and was replaced with a bronze casting. It was an angel, and the
wings fell off as a result of weakening of the stone. Something else also
failed, an anchor of some kind, and the body fell to the ground as well.
Some stone which existed unchanged for 100 million years dissolves in 200
years once we rip it out of the ground and put it on a pedestal. Like the women
of Shangrila, who remain young until they leave that magical valley, then age
all at once.
Some things are best done in bronze - and they are best discussed on bronze
lists, rather than here.
